Cattywampus cabinets are designed around what needs to be stored, displayed, concealed, or made easier to reach. Some begin with new lumber; others reclaim an existing cabinet or give overlooked wood a new purpose.

Interior layout, shelves, doors, hardware, and dimensions can often be adapted for a particular room or use. Natural variation and practical problem-solving are part of the design.
